amazon.comThe life of Eva Peron gets the epic treatment. I've never quite understood those who claim the film glorifies Evita - the lyrics, like the loved, loathed Argentinean herself, are too deeply cynical, though arguably somewhat toned down from the stage version.

amazon.comFantastic production design. As a longtime fan of the book and Broadway musical, I had some serious, serious issues with the voices (Gerard Butler's especially - sorry, dude, you're hot, but your voice does not qualify as "seductively beautiful") and the changes they made to the plot (like, wtf? The whole point of the phantom is that he's supposed to be hideously deformed, not a regulation hottie with a really, really bad sunburn.
